For this piece I looked into to the symbolism and themes often associated with this fruit. The pomegranate is a winter fruit. So fertility in the midst of barrenness, death and rebirth, the female power of creation as well as destruction, Persephone’s story… pomegranates carry a rich history of lore. In Turkey on the winter solstice it’s traditional to throw a pomegranate in front of your door, so as it splits and its seeds spread everywhere, so too will your abundance in all areas of life.
